Wow, so after orchestra today, I was talking to a friend of mine and she was like "Are you on facebook?" I was like, no...i'm not in college. But, APPARENTLY, if you have a college e-mail address (which I do b/c I am enrolled), you can be on facebook!! YAY! **Problem: I have never set up anything for myself (i.e. this lj). So, I attempted to start a profile. Um, Steven dearest....Eric...anyone else in college care to help me out?? PLEASE do. I am lost. lol
I sorted out some major drama today. My friends seem to think I have more knowledge than they do about scandals (moi? *bat eyes*) and come to me for advise. I weaved through some major shit for them....I am the drama masta!! PUNK! Current Mood:

OK, you guys, is this the end of the world or what? Most of the gas pumps in Tuscaloosa are covered with trash bags, and the stations are closed. People are frantic to fill up their tanks, and those stations that are open sell gas at over $3/gal and rising. Unfortunately, this means I can't go to visit Steven in Hunsville this weekend. *sniff* But that should not be my concern.
I got a call from my uncle who lives in southern Mississippi. His "good news" was that he now has running water as of 2am this morning (yes, he has been w/o running water for OVER 5 DAYS). Power MIGHT be available in mid October, according to the local authorities. There are no jobs where he is and gas is rationed. This was the first time we have gotten in touch with him since before Katrina. I went to school right after his phone call. I was still thinking about how desperate everyone is and I just broke down in tears in AP Calc. It was so embarrassing...I had to excuse myself. It is sooooo depressing going over to volunteer at the University of AL rec center where a lot of victims are staying. Children are just running around everywhere, and adults are so quiet and many are crying. It is almost unbearable, but I know they need my help which is why I go there. We got a couple of transfers to our school today. One girl is from New Orleans. Everything became so real for me today. It is like, these people have NOTHING except the clothes on their backs. Dad finally reached Steve and Annie Cohen and talked to them. At least Jonathan's mom made it out safely, but all she has are the documents and pictures she put in the car. It makes me sick to hear about all the looting and shooting in the New Orleans. I hope things get under control soon, but I still feel awful for those people who have to start over completely. I just wish there was something I could do, but there is too much to be done. I hate that feeling. Current Mood:

Well, I must say this has been a fabulous day so far [insert sarcasm]. I get up to shower reluctantly, as I do every Monday morning. I get out of the shower and there is a knock on my door. Mom comes in and says, "Jenna, I just heard that school was cancelled because of the hurricane." Now, one would normally be excited to hear such news, but I was tired, I hauled my ass out of bed, and I took a freaking shower. Once I take a shower in the morning, I can't fall back to sleep. So now I am up with nothing to do all day. Actually, it has been really cool watching the weather outside. The wind is blowing like 80-something mph and branches are flying everywhere. It is pouring and the clouds are moving creepy-fast in the sky. I basically practiced in the music room (which has one big window for a wall) and watched the weather. It was pretty cool. So, besides the fact that I got up this morning when I didn't have to, it was a relaxing day.
Maddy got out family pics to sort and label. That is so typical Maddy because she is the perfectionist/organizer/neatfreak of the family. So good for her. We just laughed at how cute we were as babies and how ugly we were in our, shall we say, "awkward phases" ahahaha It was interesting...sadly, probably the most interesting thing I did all day. At least the power hasn't gone out - yet. Tornado sirens are going off like crazy. Not fun. Yay for Alabamer weather. We get both the hurricane and tornadoes in the SAME DAY!! Food for thought: Do you think Alabama gets all the bad weather for a reason? Current Mood:

Ugggg.....I just finished my orchestra audition for UA. Yay for being dually enrolled as a high schooler! Unfortunately, being compared to all the college cellists makes me very nervous. Things just didn't go as well as I had hoped. *sigh* oh well Here comes the bad part of the story: as most of you know, I like to eat my feelings after auditions (this usually consists of cramming Oreos down my throat...i don't know why getting fat helps me feel better). Anyway, at Brevard, my average was about 6 Oreos before I got sick. So, I come home looking forward to being pissed off and chowing down, BUT LO! THERE ARE NO OREOS IN MY HOUSE!!! So now I just have to sit here w/o eating my Oreos and be depressed about how much I suck at cello. The worst part is I have to find out what chair I am tomorrow for the rehearsal on Thursday. Plus, I know I will get a lecture from my dad tonight about how I played. grrrrr.

Ok, you guys, National Honor Society officially sucks!! I mean, we have meetings at freakin 7:30am (which means I have to be AT SCHOOL at 7:30, which is difficult b/c I am NOT a morning person). At the meeting, the officers announced the "service project" of the month which is to bring a mesh backpack for the needy children of Verner Elementary. Now, for those of you who are fortunate enough NOT to live in Alabamer are unaware that Verner Elemenntary is my feeder school. It is also the rich-kids elementary school (thus, I go to the rich kids high school). I mean, this is like having a pencil drive for the deprived children of Beaverly Hills!!!! So, not only did I have to go BUY COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS, which I am extremely against, but it was for the rich kids of Tuscaloosa! grrrrr
While I am on a venting rant, I would like to complain about my work load. Why in my right mind did I sign up for AP Calc, AP Gov, AP English 12, and AP French? Oh, wait, I am a crazy over-acheiver... 10th August 2005

Hummm....ok seeing as the jennmac is technologically challenged, it will take me just a wee bit to understand this "live journal". It will come in time, just like my understanding of the "subwafer" came in time, thanks to my daaahhhhling Kate. Yay for the awesome Steven for making me a livejournal without porn as the freakin background *coughnicolasgoldcough* !!! So, I am thinking that "friends" are a good thing, so I should get more of them ;) Anybody know how to get music on this? I'M CONFUSED!! I am a little post-BMC jittery from talking on the phone to all my Brevard Buddies until the wee hours in the morning. Sorry, my posts will get more interesting later - but first I wanna see if this works. Current Mood:
